PRIDEMAIL SPAM BLOCKING

The email server at Greensboro College marks messages that it considers SPAM. No system is 100% perfect, but it can useful for reducing the amount of SPAM cluttering your Inbox.

These instructions will show you how to setup Pridemail to either move the marked SPAM into another folder or delete it completely. We encourage you to move the SPAM to another folder instead of deleting it so that the system doesn't delete messages that are incorrectly marked as SPAM.

Moving SPAM to a new folder
The first step is to create a new folder for SPAM. In this example we've decided to call our SPAM folder "spambucket". Type spambucket (or whatever you want to call the folder) into the box to the right of Create Mailbox and then click on Create Mailbox.

Next, you'll create the Rule for moving SPAM into the newly created folder. Click on Rules in the menu on the left. I'm going to call my Rule spambucket. It can be whatever you want, but make it something meaningful. Type spambucket into the box to the right of Add Rule. Then click on Add Rule. Then click on the word Edit to the right of the newly created Rule.

You need to setup the Rule exactly as it's depicted below. The only thing that may be different is the Parameter for the "Store in" Action. This needs to be whatever you named the folder in the first step. It's also important that you have the Action order correct ("Store in", "Discard"). This tells Pridemail to remove the message from your Inbox after it's been copied to the spambucket folder. Click on "Update" at the bottom right and you are finished.

Deleting SPAM
To delete SPAM completely, follow the above rules until you get to the final step. The rule should be setup as below. The only difference is the ommission of the "Store in" Action.
