
Instructions for connecting to GCNetWireless on Windows Vista
Note: Staff members may need to replace "GCNetWireless" with "GCAdministrativeWireless" and replace "GCNET" with "GCADMIN"
Faculty and Students: The easiest way to configure your computer is to download and run Install-GCNetWireless and skip to step 13.
| 1.) Click the "Start" button on your desktop | ![]() |
2a.) Right click on "Network" and open the Network Options menu. 2b.) Click on "Properties" |

| 3.) Click on "Manage wireless networks" | ![]() |
4a.) If a network named "GCNetWireless" exists, Click on "GCNetWireless" and then click "Remove" ("Remove" button not shown. It will appear beside the "Add" button). If you have another network configured, such as "Linksys", you do not need to remove it. 4b.) Click on "Add" |

5.) Click on the "Manually create a network profile" option |

6a.) Enter "GCNetWireless" for the "Network name" 6b.) Select "WPA2-Enterprise" or "WPA-Enterprise" for the "Security type" 6c.) Select "AES" or "TKIP" for the "Encryption type" 6d.) [Recomended] You can optionally select the options for "Start this connection automatically" and "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting" 6e.) Click "Next" |

7.) Click "Change connection Settings" |

8a.) Verify the Name and SSID fields both say "GCNetWireless" 8b.) [Recomended] Select the options on this page as shown. The "Enable Intel connection settings" option may not be available on your computer. 8c.) Click on the "Security" tab |

9a.) Verify that "Security type" is "WPA2-Enterprise" or "WPA-Enterprise" 9b.) Verify that "Encryption type" is "AES" or "TKIP" 9c.) Verify that "Choose a network authentication method" is "Protected EAP (PEAP)" 9d.) Select the option for "Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network" 9e.) Click on the "Settings..." button |

10a.) Uncheck the "Validate server certificate option 10b.) Verify that "Select Authentication Method" is "Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)" 10c.) [Recomended] Check "Enable Fast Reconnect" 10d.) Click the "Configure..." button
Note: If you would prefer to use the "Validate server certificate" option you can visit http://infotech.gborocollege.edu and look for the information about "Certificate Authority" |

| 11.) Uncheck "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)" | ![]() |
| 12.) Click "OK" three times and then click on "Close" to close the open windows and save the changes. | |
13.)An information dialog box will pop up above the taskbar in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Click the box.
Note: Depending on the age and speed of your computer it could take up to a minute for the box to appear. If it does not appear, Click on "Start", Click on "Connect To", Click on "GCNetWireless", and Click "Connect" (These steps are not pictured) |

14.)Enter your GCNET username in the "Username" box and your GCNET password in the "Password" box. For the "Logon domain" enter "GCNET". Click OK and after a short time your computer should have access to the internet.
Note: You may need to do steps 13 and 14 twice. The information bubble from step 13 should reappear if the step needs to be repeated |
